Meet Melissa Ellen

Voice Transformation Coach

I am an award-winning songwriter, recording artist, best selling author and speaker, Healing Touch practitioner, and trauma survivor. My name is Melissa Ellen, and for more than 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a premier vocal coach, leading singers, speakers, and creatives to discover and embody their most authentic voice. Their Vocal Majic.

Since 1990, I’ve been guiding others not just to sing or speak better, but to feel better, express more fully, and step into their true power. My work blends vocal technique with deep energetic awareness. I believe your voice is more than sound, and what you have to say is of value. My work has always been about more than singing or speaking. As a trauma survivor, I motivate and empower other survivors to clear blocks and connect to their truth.

My approach is deeply personal. I grew up in a small Pennsylvania town in what looked like a typical middle-class family. But behind closed doors, my father’s quiet presence often turned violent. I could joke, converse, even teach voice lessons, but my true emotions were buried deep. I learned silence early. After surviving abuse, molestation, addiction, and devastating personal losses, I eventually found my way to becoming a certified Healing Touch practitioner, public speaker, and recording artist

My musical journey has taken me to stages alongside iconic artists such as Toni Braxton, Caron Wheeler, India Arie, and Geoff McBride. I’ve released two full-length albums of my own, contributed background vocals for numerous artists, and co-wrote and recorded songs for the critically acclaimed project Muse Cafe with producer Buzz Amato. As a Grammy Voting Member and an ASCAP and MLC-affiliated songwriter, I’ve spent decades immersed in the music industry both as a performer and creator.

I founded Georgia Tech University’s first extracurricular vocal workshop, performed with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra Celebration Chorus and The Settles Connection, and coached country star Joe Nichols while in Nashville. During that time, I also served as a professional speaker for the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and created the “Singing for Songwriters” series. Later, as faculty with Indie Connect I offered workshops that blended my music industry expertise with my transformational approach to teaching. Over the years I participated in several music conferences as a panelist. One of the most memorable was in Beijing, China.

Through it all, after discovering that the principles that build the foundation for a strong singing voice are the same principles that allow you to fully express yourself and thrive with confidence in every area of life, I founded Vocal Majic. My work is both technical and intuitive, blending decades of music industry experience with the energy practices that supported my own transformation.
